Message
from the Chair
June 2011
Dear Bloomfield Democratic Town Committee Members,
As I write this message, I can only think about the end of the Legislative Session in three days (and nights)! It has been a grueling last week, often not getting out until after midnight. Lots of good laws were passed this Session, and of course some big ticket items included:
Energy Reform, Domestic Violence, UConn Health Center , Recreational Land Use (aka MDC Bill), Sick Days, Reduced penalties for marijuana, Civil Rights, and of course the Budget. I won't take time now, but we will have many opportunities to discuss this Session and the various bills passed.
Top of our agenda now is to complete our nominating process, and prepare for the local November elections.

Dear Bloomfield Democratic Town Committee Members,
As I write this Message, I am left reflecting upon President Obama’s special address to the Nation tonight announcing the elimination of Osama Bin Laden, the world’s top terrorist. Let us hope that the world is now a safer place, and that the pursuit of liberty and justice for all, will become a renewed goal for people of all countries seeking freedom and democracy. All Americans should be proud of President Obama’s determination to bring the master mind of 911 to justice. Ironically, today was also the observance of our annual Holocaust Commemoration, symbolizing the never ending vigilance we must maintain to prevent incidents of genocide from happening again. America has once again proved its courage.
Congratulations to our Bloomfield Volunteer Ambulance Association on a terrific Awards Banquet on Saturday night. It was inspiring to see so many volunteers dedicated to saving lives in our community. Very few towns can boast of having volunteers who save lives on a daily basis through their commitment to our ambulance and fire departments.
Congratulations to our new Superintendent, Dr. James Thompson who’s Investiture Ceremony last week was invigorating and uplifting. We wish him well on his ambitious agenda to benefit our children.
