TOM FOLEY: Everything You've Wanted to Know 12.02.2009

Everything you’ve wanted to know about Tom Foley...

U.S. Senate Gubernatorial edition

1. Tom Foley has a history of not voting, even for the candidate for which he raised thousands of dollars.

2. Tom Foley would welcome Sarah Palin to Connecticut to campaign on his behalf.

3. Tom Foley “doesn’t give a shit about international law.” (No word on what he thinks about state laws)

4. Tom Foley didn’t have any relevant expertise when he was appointed to lead George W. Bush’s privatization efforts in Iraq.

5. Tom Foley, in fact, had so little expertise in international recovery and rebuilding issues, that he likened the risks in Iraq “to skydiving or riding a motorcycle, which are, to many, very acceptable risks.”

6. Tom Foley is a Bush Pioneer Fundraiser, raising more than $100,000 for President Bush’s campaign.

7. Tom Foley was rewarded for his loyalty to President Bush with a plumb ambassadorship to Ireland.

Seeing as though his time spent getting Iraq on track was an absolute failure, we’re not quite sure how Tom Foley believes his managerial skills will translate here in Connecticut. Certainly if he believes he has the chops to govern the state, he should run. But being Connecticut’s chief executive, particularly at a time like this, is about more than a snazzy title and a nice office. Over the next few months, assuming Tom Foley doesn’t drop out of this race, too, we look forward to hearing what he believes he has to offer the people of this state on any number of issues they find themselves facing.
