“The Governor’s State of the State address was more rhetoric when Connecticut residents need substance. What the Governor does not acknowledge is that the state budget cannot be balanced on spending cuts and deferments alone. Budgets are about priorities and the Governor has missed the mark. Connecticut families are struggling and the Governor’s answer is Keno - - a game that requires discretionary income to play.”

“Connecticut residents need to know that their elected officials are in their corner. The Democratic Leadership recognizes that we need to make strong investments in our communities and small businesses to ensure our economic recovery. Real progress is putting people back to work. They are not only addressing the problems we face today but are looking to the future with plans that will encourage business growth and job creation as well as significant improvements in the State’s infrastructure.”

“I hope that the Governor is sincere in her talk of working with the members of the General Assembly to find common ground towards meaningful change. But that means more than simply expecting the Democratic Leadership to cow-tow to her inadequate solutions.”
